A trip to L&D

I was called off work yesterday for the first 4 hours so I went back to sleep. At about 9 o'clock I woke up with stabbing pains shooting up my abdomen. I got some water and laid back down. The pains continued intermittently in my lower abdomen. When I wasn't having the pains I was having menstrual like cramps in my stomach. I wasn't bleeding. I was called into work at 11. I got up and showered and got ready. Only cramps, no sharp pains. I got to work and parked in the garage. Walking from the garage to my floor I had several of the sharp pains. I got busy when I first got to work because both of my transfers came pretty close together. At 12:30 I decided to call the doctor because they were getting worse when I was up walking around. At 2:30 I called and left another message.

At almost 4 they called me back and wanted me to come into the doctors office and be seen. Not a huge deal since my doctor is right next door to Riley. I handed off my kids and walked over to IU. I had multiple sharp pains walking over. After the doctor checked me she said I was a fingertip dilated and was concerned that I may be contracting. Since the office was closing she sent me to labor and delivery to be monitored. In L&D I was hooked up to the monitor and pretty much just hung out for a few hours. The doctor came in after awhile and said that I was having small contractions and my uterus was "irritable". She wanted to monitor me for a bit longer and recheck me. She said if I wasn't dilated any more she would send me home. After another hour of being monitored the contractions slowed way down and I was still a fingertip dilated. I was sent home with orders to come back if it gets worse or if my water breaks. I was also told to relax last night and today.

I've felt good today. No contractions. I wanted to clean today since it's the only day I will be here on my day off, but I'm following doctors orders and watching a movie in bed. I have phone calls to make about my house so that should keep me busy for a little bit. I'm just drinking lots of water and taking it easy.

I'm so suprised that I held it together! I almost lost it a couple times. Yesterday was an ordeal I hope I don't have to go through again for at least 10 more weeks!

Love you all!

Holy contraction!

I carried a cardiac monitor from one side of the hospital today to the other. I didn't think much about it, they aren't that heavy. Half way back I had a couple Braxton Hicks! I think it was just being up and moving around a lot this morning and carrying that thing together. I think I was being told to slow down a little bit! On a side note, she has been so crazy active in there today! She is apparently practicing her kicking. My left ribs are getting pretty sore.

Love you all!

I just looked myself up at work. I know, I know I'm not supposed to. I passed my glucose tolerance test with flying colors! It was 82. Normal is 70-140. My thyroid level also dropped a little bit which is great news. My hematocrit and hemoglobin are a little low and I'm not sure why. I haven't had any bleeding or anything. I might call and ask what they think. Great news!

Love you all!

She's normal after all :)

The doctors appointment was pretty uneventful today. My uterus was measuring 26 weeks, right on schedule. We concluded she must have just had a huge growth spurt right before my last doctors appointment. I had my glucose test. I don't know what the results are yet. The drink wasn't as bad as people make it seem. I chugged it like a big shot, reminded me of my college days...lol. I gained 3 pounds this time. Not nearly as bad as the 6 last time. That puts me at 17 total so far. I think that is pretty good but I don't know for sure. I forgot to ask her.

When they drew my labs for my glucose test they rechecked my thyroid again. They also drew my third trimester labs. Third trimester labs. Woah! I think next week is when I'm officially in my third trimester, but how crazy!

So, I guess she is not a monster after all. She's normal. Well, for now she's normal. She hasn't met her mom yet! :)

Love you all!

The top is a picture of me at exactly 26 weeks. The bottom is a picture of baby girl at 25 weeks 6 days. I can't believe how great the pictures turned out. It's amazing the things they can do now. She looks a little bit like me. :)

A job

I forgot to say that I officially got an offer from Cincinnati Children's in the CICU. It's days and nights both so I want to do my other interviews before I make any decisions. What a relief to know that I have a job when I move over to Cincinnati though.

My sister Ash had her ultrasound today. Another girl! Yay! She was so little in there and really wiggly. She's already begun her wardrobe. :)

I was tempted into another 4D ultrasound today. Luckily, I got it at a reduced price since I was a return customer. :) I have some really cute face pics that I will post as soon as I get them on my computer. She has fat little cheeks and I think she has my nose! Too cute.

I go back to the doctor on Monday for my glucose tolerance test. Not really looking forward to it, but I know it's something I have to do. I'll just take a book or something to pass the time while I wait. I'm curious to see what my uterus measures this time. I will be starting my every 2 week appointments soon too. This appointment will be 26 weeks so I might wait another 4 weeks before starting the 2 weeks. It's going so fast. Back when I first found out I felt like I would be pregnant forever. I guess life has a funny way of not stopping just because you think your life is falling part. I've definitley had a change in attitude about this pregnancy since then. My life isn't falling apart, it's simply evolving. I know now that there is a reason I'm going through what I'm going through and what I have already gone through.

I think it's bed time for me! Love you all.

I will be in my third trimester in less than two weeks. HOLY CRAP! How in the heck did that happen?

Got a house and maybe a job!

I just wanted to let you guys know that I got a house! It is one that I originally made an offer on, but we thought they took it off the market. A long story short, it was taken off because they accepted my offer! For 14,000 less than asking no less! Thank goodness! It needs some fixing up, but my dad is going to do that for me! Yay! I'm glad to be one step closer to finally being settled. I have no idea about closing or anything at this point since I just found out I got the house yesterday.

I also may have a job. I interviewed at Cincinnati Children's on Tuesday on the CICU. It went really well. Anna, the manager, was very nice and took a lot of time explaining the unit to me. She sounded interested when I left the interview. She kept introducing me to people and telling them "it's so rare to have a nurse with pediatric cardiology experience". I called the Nurse Recruiter today about a letter I need if I get an offer to get the house finalized. She said "you will have an offer as soon as I check your references". That was promising! The only thing that worries me is that they do rotating shifts. I know right now that I will have a lot of trouble switching from days to nights all the time. I still have other interviews to go to, two of which are only day shift. I'm trying not to stress about that until the time comes. I do love to get ahead of myself though! :)

I'm getting ready to leave work. I'm meeting my dad tonight to get Lauren for the Kenny Chesney concert tomorrow! We are so excited!

Love you all!

Reality Check!

I've been moody and cranky the last couple days. Things aren't falling into place like I have been expecting them to. I'm stressing about finding a definite job in Cincinnati, finding a place to live when I move to Cincinnati, having a baby by myself, legal issues with taking Ken to court, affording everything I need to prepare for this baby, etc.

I met a family today at work that really opened my eyes. Dad lost his job about a month ago because the economy sucks. Mom works part time and isn't able to work full time at the moment. Their son was just diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor and has to start treatment soon. If that isn't someone telling me to quit being a brat, I don't know what is!

My Niece/Goddaughter!!

Welcome to the world Jaden Lynne! She was born Friday, August 29th, at 11:39am. She weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces and was 20 inches long. She has tons of black hair. She is absolutely beautiful. Congrats Megan and Curt! I love you guys!

She is a giant!

I went to the doctor today. The med student came in to ask me questions and measure my fundus. She felt around for a little bit and said she would be right back. The doctor came in and felt my fundus and said "Holy cow". After she measured me, my uterus is measuring 24 1/2 weeks. I'm barely 23. She is officially a giant in there. Found her heartbeat right away which was suprising since she was especially wiggly today. She said it sounded perfect.

I have to go back in three weeks, on the 22nd, for my 1 hour glucose test. I'm hoping things go well and I pass. If I don't I have to go back for the 3 hour test. Not fun. They draw blood during the 1 hour test so the doctor wants to recheck my thyroid again. It's still normal but on the high end of normal. I jumped almost a point last time she checked it.

The nurse told me that I can tour Labor and Delivery after any of my appointments. I may ask if I can go at the next appointment or the one after that.

I think that's all for now. Bye for now. Love you all!
